The winery sits at the heart of the 40ha family vineyard in Gialtra, a small village of northern Evia, 14 km from Aidipsos Spa town. The vineyard spreads across the foothills of mountain “Telethrio”, next to Istiaia and the Aegean Sea, at an altitude ranging from 150 to 400m. The first plantings of mainly indigenous grape varieties were carried out by Konstantinos Vriniotis’s father in the late 1800’s and the winemaking at Vriniotis Winery remains very much a traditional family affair.

From the winery far reaching views extend out over the North Evoikos Gulf to the Aegean Sea beyond. This vista lent a name to this wine with ‘Methea’ translating as ‘with view’. Methea is made using equal shares of Aidani and Monemvasia vinified separately in stainless steel to retain freshness then blended to produce a delightfully well-balanced wine. In no way weird but very much wonderful - we reckon if you like picpoul or similar dry, aromatic, dry fruity wines then you might just love Methea.
