So it’s that time of year again when we are thinking about what will bring a smile to our Dad’s face on Fathers Day which doesn’t involve power tools or gadgets. For those of you scratching your head I think I have found the answer, no other than the father of wines a bold and luscious Bordeaux could ease the worries of fatherhood.
Tricky to choose after many a successful tasting but the St Emillion Grand Cru 2011 from Clos de la Cure located on the right bank of the Gironde is my pick for our long-suffering fathers. A new and most welcome arrival to our shelves, this red has all of the rich richness of black fruit and chocolate on the palate from the predominant Merlot grapes combined with the fragrance and finesse of the Cabernet Franc fruit. After spending a maximum of 15 months in both old and new French barrels, the wine is smooth, with delicate tannins and bags of aroma and flavour, a great pairing for a nice piece of beef or some good cheese. This tasty red will soften the furrowed brow of any frazzled father and will be worth all of the £20.70 (special Father’s Day price).
We will be offering 10% off all Bordeaux wines up until Father’s Day Sunday 21st June, for our Wine Club members that will be 10% on top of the usual discount, so don’t forget to pop in for a special bottle!
Thanks to Vigiers for this photo transporting us to St Emillion.
